Fedora 41 Workstation, released in October 2024, is the latest stable edition of the community‑driven Fedora Linux distribution. Targeted at developers, power users, and desktop enthusiasts, it ships with full 64‑bit support for x86_64 and ARM64 platforms, delivering a modern, secure, and flexible operating system out of the box. For the previous stable release, see Fedora 40 Workstation.
Fedora 41 introduces the GNOME 46 desktop, bringing a refreshed visual language, improved multitasking, and tighter Wayland integration as the default display server. The underlying Linux kernel has been upgraded to 6.9, offering enhanced hardware support, including newer AMD and Intel CPUs, and improved power‑management features. DNF now supports automatic modularity, simplifying the installation of language runtimes and development stacks. Flatpak receives expanded sandboxing capabilities, and the default Fedora Toolbox has been modernized for container‑based development workflows. Additionally, the installer (Anaconda) has been streamlined with a new guided partitioning UI and better support for encrypted LVM setups. Enterprise users may prefer Fedora 41 Server, which shares the same core packages.
Fedora 41 receives updates until November 2025, after which users are encouraged to upgrade to Fedora 42. It is not an LTS release.
