Latest Version
Kali Linux 2025.4 arrives in December 2025 as a 64‑bit installer aimed at penetration‑testing professionals, security researchers, and enthusiasts. It supports both x86_64 and ARM64 platforms, delivering the latest toolset and a refreshed desktop experience for users who need a reliable, up‑to‑date offensive security distribution.
The release brings a suite of notable upgrades: GNOME 49 replaces Totem with the new Showtime video player and introduces an organized app‑grid for Kali tools, while KDE Plasma 6.5 adds flexible window tiling, an enhanced screenshot editor, and fuzzy‑matching in KRunner. Xfce now supports full colour theming across GTK and Qt applications. Wayland becomes the default display server with full VM guest‑utils support for VirtualBox, VMware, and QEMU. A seasonal Halloween mode dresses the desktop, and the Live image is now distributed exclusively via BitTorrent to accommodate its growing size. New security tools such as bpf-linker, evil-winrm-py, and hexstrike‑ai join the repository, and the kernel is updated to Linux 6.16.
Kali Linux follows a rolling release model; this 2025.4 build will receive updates until the next quarterly release and is not an LTS version.
